Knowledge Exchange and sharing expertise at the 16th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS2016)

 

Al Ain University opened yesterday the 16th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS2016), which was organized in collaboration with IEEE in the attendance of Prof. Ghaleb Al Refae -AAU President, Prof. Abdulhafeed Belarabi -AAU Vice President, Dr. Nazih Khaddaj Mallat -Dean of the College of Engineering and Information Technology and General Chair of MMS2016 and a number of academics and researchers from the Engineering colleges of different universities inside and outside the country.

The conference program included a total of 102 technical papers which provided an excellent opportunity for the international academic community to present the latest developments and recent advances in relevant fields which includes Microwave Engineering, RF Circuits and Systems, Antenna Technologies, Wireless Communications, and a broad range of High- Frequency topics such as Terahertz and Photonic Technologies. In the program, there are also 5 Keynote talks provided by prominent speakers from United States, Canada and UK. The keynote speakers are well-known in the IEEE domain related of MMS2016. Their expertise and their engineering experiences brought an atmosphere of knowledge exchange among the attendees.

From his side, Prof. Ghaleb Al Refae welcomed all the attendees and stress on the keenness of Al Ain University to develop the College of Engineering and Information Technology by providing all support which would raise the college and the university. He emphasized on the University's foundations that are compatible with the CAA standards in the Ministry of Education – Higher Education Affairs. He emphasized on the importance of scientific research to satisfy the demands of society, the State, economic reality and UAE education. He also added that embracing this conference will contribute to achieve the aim in strengthening the scientific research and innovation, which had the United Arab Emirates attention. This approach gives great importance to researchers, supports the sciences and scientific researches and enhances the intellectual and scientific development.

On the other hand, Dr. Khaddaj Mallat was delighted to host this conference, which adds a distinct imprint of AAU’s history in the field of organizing and hosting international and local conferences because of its keenness to strength relations with various academic institutions locally, regionally and internationally. He also conveyed his gratitude to all the sponsors of this conference and the most prominent: Transco, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau and Keysight Technologies, Motabaqah Tradind, organizing committee, technical committee, media committee, the volunteers and all the participants in the conference, whishing them all further progress and success and to spend a pleasant and useful times in Abu Dhabi City. It is worth to mention that, the College of Engineering and Information Technology has obtained lately the International Accreditation (ABET) from the United States.
