AAU hosts first UAE university workshop on Abu Dhabi Trader scheme

 

Al Ain University’s Student Recruitment Unit (Abu Dhabi Campus) collaborated with the Department of Economic Development (DED) on a workshop introducing the Abu Dhabi Trader scheme. The scheme was established by the Department for the purpose of simplifying the process of issuing business licenses to UAE citizens, enabling them to pursue business opportunities within Abu Dhabi. The workshop represented the launch event for the strategic partnership outlined in a memorandum of understanding exchanged by AAU and DED.

Giving an introductory presentation on the scheme, Mrs. Amna Al Hammadi from the Department of Economic Development’s noted that, “It is not necessary to submit a rental lease contract when using the Abu Dhabi Trader scheme, which allows potential business owners to obtain a license through the Department website or Abu Dhabi Business Centre app in just two steps. Additionally, the license applicant can choose from 30 types of businesses and does not need to obtain any third party approvals.”

Mrs. Ruwaya Al Junaibi presented on the services provided by the Department’s Takamul team to enhance the role of innovation across in all fields in the UAE and in support of the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Trader scheme.

The workshop was attended by AAU students and academic and administrative staff. The general goal of the workshop was to increase student awareness of the latest updates in the field of economic development and the services provided by the Department’s Institutional Innovation Unit.  

Notably, Al Ain University is the first university in the UAE to host a Department of Economic Development-led workshop on Abu Dhabi Trader.
