College of Pharmacy strengthens relations with prospectors

Al Ain University represented by the College of Pharmacy held the preceptors second annual meeting at DANAT Al Ain Hotel in the presence of more than 30 Pharmacists from different government and private hospitals in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, most notably: Tawam Hospital, Al Ain Hospital, Mediclinic Group, Emirates International Hospital, NMC Specialty Hospital, Khalifa Hospital, In addition to Al Ain Pharmacy Group, under the supervision of Dr. Khairi Mustafa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and number of the academic staff.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Dean of the college who welcomed the attendees and praised their efforts in following up the students during the training and providing them with professional skills to qualify them as future pharmacists, to achieve the vision and mission of the college to strengthen the goal of integrating the theoretical part with the practical one.
Then Prof. Salahdein Abu Ruz, Clinical Pharmacy Department Head, presented the first lecture about the effective role of the preceptors in the community, aspects of ideal training and how to follow-up the students during training.

While the second lecture presented by Dr. Adel Sadek, faculty member in the Clinical Pharmacology Department, was about the Effective preceptor in Hospital Pharmacy and the active role of preceptors to reach a professional output.
The third lecture was presented by Dr. Hana Al Safarini, Training Head in Al Ain Pharmacy Hospital focused on the ways of evaluating the student’s performance during training, according to the evaluating forum from SEHA, which includes the attendance committed to each training time, the student's skills and results in the evaluation meetings held during the training period.
At the end, a discussion punctuated with lots of questions between the administrators, lecturers and preceptors, in order to clarify some of the points in the lectures presented regarding the trainings and the rules of evaluating students, whether community pharmacies or hospitals. Also, the dean of the faculty presented honor certificates for the preceptors in recognition of their efforts.
This meeting came from the keenness of AAU to strengthen relations between the university and its strategic partners, in addition to its interest towards students and ensure that they are taking a high quality training for them.
