A Workshop Entitled “Analyzing and Designing Structures using Finite Element Modeling Software”

The College of Engineering organized a workshop entitled “Analyzing and Designing Structures using Finite Element Modeling Software” by Eng. Esraa Hijah.

The workshop aimed to introduce Civil Engineering students to finite Element Modelling and Analysis through ETABS software, which is one of the most powerful analysis tools in the Civil Engineering field and widely used among engineering companies all over the world.

The workshop covered different topics such as reading plans and applying them to the ETABS model, readings codes, calculating and assigning different load parameters and exporting an AutoCAD plan into ETABS.

The students learned how to model and analyze high-rise Reinforced Concrete (RC) buildings, they learned to apply both gravity and lateral loads according to ASCE 7-16 minimum design loads.

The College of Engineering emphasizes on strengthening the skills of its students through such workshops, which helps enriching their academic experience and preparing them for real work environment.
