A workshop entitled; COLING 2025 on Computational Linguistics for Religious Texts

The College of Engineering at Al Ain University, represented by Dr. Majdi Swalha and Professor Bayan Abu Shawar, in collaboration with other universities such as the University of Sharjah, Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, Magdeburg University in Germany, and the University of Leeds in the UK, organized a workshop as part of the COLING 2025 conference titled "New Horizons in Computational Linguistics for Religious Texts." The workshop was held on January 19, 2025, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC) as part of the 31st Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING).
Throughout the day, nine research papers were presented, along with a poster session that highlighted various cutting-edge topics at the intersection of language technology and religious studies. The workshop concluded with an engaging discussion panel led by Dr. Swalha and Professor Abu Shawar, focusing on enhancing collaboration and inspiring future projects. To maintain momentum, the organizers created an email group to encourage ongoing research exchange and partnerships.
