Lecture on Water Management in Arid Areas for Civil Engineering and Water Resources Students
The "Water Resources" course, an essential part of the Civil Engineering curriculum, recently hosted a valuable lecture by Eng. Abeer Abu Ali from ZUBLIN STRABAG UAE on the topic of "Water Management in Arid Areas." This lecture provided students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge about sustainable water management solutions, particularly in arid regions like the UAE.
The session was initiated by Dr. Omar Najm, the course instructor, who emphasized the importance of linking academic knowledge with industry experience. In her lecture, Eng. Abeer discussed sustainable water management practices and strategies specifically designed to address water scarcity issues in the region. She also highlighted the importance of raising "technical awareness" in the UAE’s dry climate, empowering future engineers to support "sustainability-driven" designs and Estidama-approved products, particularly in the private sector.
This initiative is also a direct outcome of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Al Ain University and ZUBLIN STRABAG, which underscores the value of such collaborations in enhancing the educational experience. This collaboration reflects the university's commitment to graduating the next generation of professionals who will contribute to sustainable solutions for urgent environmental challenges
