Under the Chairmanship of Sheikh Theyab bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Board of Trustees of Al Ain University held its first meeting for the 2024-2025 academic year at the university’s Abu Dhabi campus. The meeting focused on discussing key academic and infrastructural developments and approving strategic decisions to strengthen the university’s leadership.
The Board reviewed the recent infrastructural and developmental advancements at the university, which enhance student life and the academic environment while fostering an interactive learning atmosphere that supports excellence and innovation.
The university president presented the institution’s progress in global academic rankings, attributed to its commitment to international research, teaching, and program development standards. The Board emphasized the importance of continued investment in scientific research and strengthening academic partnerships with global institutions to drive further progress and innovation.
As part of its academic expansion, the Board approved the launch of several new educational programs designed to meet labor market needs and prepare highly qualified professionals across various modern disciplines. The newly introduced programs include a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology, a Master of Arts in Digital Media and Public Relations, a Master of Science in Software Systems Engineering, a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence, and a Postgraduate Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Additionally, the university received official accreditation for several doctoral programs, reinforcing its position as a leading academic institution that keeps pace with scientific and research advancements.
In a significant strategic expansion, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a College of Dentistry, joining the university’s existing six colleges. This move provides new opportunities for students interested in this vital field and strengthens the university’s position as a progressive institution in medical education.
The Board also discussed the university’s key performance indicators (KPIs) and the best strategies to achieve them, reflecting its commitment to quality education and a robust academic environment. Additionally, the Board highlighted the importance of equipping students with essential skills and competencies to meet labor market demands, ensuring graduates' highest level of competitiveness.
Given the rapid pace of digital transformation, the Board reviewed the university’s digital transformation strategy, which aims to enhance the integration of technology and artificial intelligence in education while providing an advanced learning environment driven by the latest digital innovations. The Board also stressed the importance of fostering interactive and innovative education to deliver a superior academic experience and align with global trends in higher education.
In line with the national initiative "Year of the Community," the Chairman of the Board of Trustees recommended intensifying community engagement initiatives and strengthening collaboration with government institutions to support society. He also emphasized the need to provide educational opportunities for financially challenged students wishing to pursue higher education at the university.
