About the Program

The B.Sc. Program in Cybersecurity aims to produce competent cybersecurity professionals who can deploy efficient technologies and implement security solutions according to market and society needs, particularly in the UAE and Gulf region. The program enables graduates to address security issues from a stakeholder requirements and protection needs perspective and to use established engineering processes to ensure that such requirements and needs are addressed with appropriate fidelity and rigor. This program is designed to serve UAE’s national Cybersecurity and privacy and to meet the growing demands for Emirati Information Technology professionals and skilled manpower from various commercial, private/public, and governmental sectors in the Abu Dhabi Emirate and the other Emirates as well.

Mission

Educate and equip the students to appropriately manage information risk. This effort is advanced through policies, information and cybersecurity knowledge, and supporting tools and guidance that empower students to manage risk and prevent the unintentional, unlawful, or unauthorized disclosure, alteration, or destruction of IT resources.

 

Objectives

As defined by ABET, the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) of the proposed “B.Sc. in The cybersecurity” Program describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation:

  • Demonstrate incremental professional competencies in Cybersecurity and related fields.
  • Plan and perform various tasks and projects that comprise a long time spans, alone and as a participant in a the team in compliance with applicable legal and ethical requirements and regulations.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the impact of Cybersecurity technology in a global and societal context.

 

Learning Outcomes

The Students Outcomes (SOs) of the “Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity” Program describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the skills, knowledge, and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program:

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a sustainable computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the cybersecurity’s discipline.
  3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
  5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the cybersecurity’s discipline.
  6. Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.

Admission Requirements

  • UAE Secondary School Certificate (Science/Advance, Or General, Or Elite) or its equivalent approved by the UAE Ministry of Education, with a minimum average of 60%.
  • A valid English Language Proficiency Certificate in one of the below certificates or its equivalent, at least as the following:

  • Pass the Math EmSAT with a score not less than (700) or equivalent.
  • Pass the Physics EmSAT with a score not less than (700) or equivalent.
  • Requirements for proficiency in related subjects:

    • The student's score in the (EmSAT Achieve test) in the relevant subject.
    • Or the student's score in one of the Ministry-approved proficiency tests in the relevant subject.
    • Or the student's grade in the relevant school subject in one of the centralized examination systems, such as; (the British system, the American system, the International Baccalaureate system, the UAE school system, or their equivalent) with a passing (Grade C) or higher.
    • Or the student's score in the university entrance exam administered by the Ministry, passing (Grade C) or higher. If the student does not achieve the required grade, they must take a remedial course (related to the required subject) for a duration of (3) hours in the enrollment semester, which will not be counted in the cumulative GPA.

Graduation Requirements

To obtain a degree of “Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity”, a student must successfully complete 123 credit hours, including 12 weeks’ internship, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2 out of 4.
