Engineering Students won the first place in the Smart City Hackathon

Capstone project students in the College of Engineering have won the first place in the Smart City Hackathon organized by the Al Ain Municipality as part of the UAE Innovation Month 2020 initiative with the logo ‘Al Ain Innovates for a Smart City’. The event involved the participation of 17 government and private institutions in addition to several UAE universities.

Students, Mohammed Musad, Aisha Alkaabi, and Meera Alkaabi won the first place for their project proposal titled ‘Desert Waste Cleaning using Flying Droids’. They competed with several project proposals of other universities including, UAEU and HCT.  

HE Ali Khalifa Al Qamzi, Director General of Al Ain Municipality, delivered the rewards 8 Thousands AED, and certificates to the winning teams.

In this context, Prof. Ghaleb Al Refae- Al Ain University President, honored the students in the presence of Dr. Qutaibah Al Thebyan, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Issam Al Azzoni, Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering. Prof. El Refae congratulated the winners, encouraged them to be more diligent and striving to achieve greater achievements and stressed Al Ain University’s keenness to support talented students in all sectors.
