Empathy in Engineering Design Workshop
The College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi Campus, supervised by Dr. Thaer Mismar and Eng. Yara Rashwan, organized an “Empathy Workshop” in collaboration with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS).
The workshop focused on the role of empathy in developing engineering solutions through interactive discussions and hands-on activities. Students explored how understanding users’ emotional and physical needs contributes to creating more inclusive and human-centered designs. They also worked in teams to develop ideas that integrate empathy into the design process, enhancing innovation, teamwork, and social responsibility.
This initiative reflects the College’s efforts to promote inclusivity and foster a culture of empathy-driven innovation, encouraging students to design solutions that make technology and engineering accessible to all members of society.
