"Universal Design for Inclusion" Workshop Promotes Inclusivity in Engineering

The College of Engineering at Al Ain University - Abu Dhabi Campus, in collaboration with Bon Education Company, hosted a workshop titled "Universal Design for Inclusion". The workshop focused on the importance of empathy in developing innovative and inclusive designs, with a special emphasis on the challenges faced by individuals with chronic conditions like Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Students participated in hands-on activities and group discussions, where they learned how to incorporate empathy for users into the design process, enhancing their ability to create creative solutions that meet the needs of diverse groups within society. The workshop cantered on a key goal: raising awareness about the importance of inclusivity in design and engineering, and encouraging students to approach challenges from the perspective of individuals who face physical or health-related difficulties.

The workshop also aimed to empower students to think differently about how to solve engineering problems, focusing on designs that ensure accessibility and usability for everyone, including people with disabilities or special health conditions. This workshop provided a valuable opportunity to promote collaboration and creative thinking among students, motivating them to develop more human-cantered designs that address the needs of various segments of society.
