Accidents on roads are primarily caused by attention diversion. Recently, smart phones and availability of internet has made the mobile-phones’ usage a biggest cause of diversion of drivers’ attention. Lately, cell phones became more dangerous than alcohol consumption while driving. The problem is as critical in the UAE as everywhere else in the world, which is evident from the statistics of Abu Dhabi Traffic department discussed in this report. To counter this problem, Al Ain University ...

Modeling of solar thermal cooling system in Hatta-Dubai

Published in: 2018 5th International Conference on Renewable Energy: Generation and Applications (ICREGA)

Feb 25, 2018

The use of solar power to provide cooling requirements is the most appropriate solution for UAE. In this paper, two cooling systems were designed and modelled using TRNSYS. Both systems are similar to each other with one difference which is the chiller type. Absorption & Adsorption chillers were used and both of them use hot water as a fuel which is provided to them by the evacuated tubes solar collector. The cooling load of the case study villa is 11.8kW. The results showed that the absorption...

Finding an Immuned Path against Single Primary User Activity in Cognitive Radio Networks

Published in: International Journal on Communications Antenna and Propagation (IRECAP)

/ Sharhabeel Hassan Alnabelsi

Due to recent crowdedness in unlicensed spectrum, a new technology is introduced which allows unlicensed users, known as Secondary Users (SUs), to dynamically access licensed spectrum whenever they are not used by their licensed users, known as Primary Users (PUs). Routing in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) is different from traditional routing in wireless networks, since it requires SUs to periodically sense licensed spectrum, channels availability changes over time, knowledge of tolerated int...

Sampling of two dimensional signals is a rarely discussed aspect of signal processing. The scientific community has become used to the idea of rectangular sampling to the point that other possibilities are generally not even considered. The popularity of rectangular approach arises mostly due to its ease in extending it to three dimensions and also from a data handling point of view. In this paper, other sampling possibilities will be explored. This paper compares the qualitative and computatio...
